Three down, one to go.
Picked up my second NEW wheel cover aka “hubcap”. As I walked around the car I noticed one of the old covers was separated from the wheel. I could see the click-tab and it didn’t look right. The cover didn’t budge loose, but I I thought push the cover closer to the wheel which lead to “CRACK” and one of the tabs falls to the ground.

Argh. Noooooooo. A third “hubcap”!!! Did the warranty just expire on these things??
Can’t I just once have all four tires lookin’ nice, ya know? Already I started playing back a buddy’s voice saying, “You still haven’t replace that?”
Upon closer inspection there was already a missing tab, now the newly broken tab, and a third tab cracking at the joint. Great. This time I didn’t bother ordering a new one … since my coworkers had suggested that I try some alternatives like junkyards & websites. I did a quick search online. I found an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) cover for half the price! They also sold a set of 4 generics for the price of two OEMs!! If the website looks reputable I may try to get one.

hrmmm, you have had bad luck with hubcaps…is that a sign we should already know of what to get for your birthday present this year?!=P
ok… you caught me! i’m the one who’s has been tampering w/ your hubcaps!
azngrl1012: Haha, the thought crossed my mind. I may drop a subtle note to my family. One hubcap from each person!
gomoh: Well, that narrowed my suspects list!
Aren’t there ones you can get that screw in? I don’t know too much about the mechanics because I currently have the ones where the lug nuts are exposed so there is no chance of them falling off. Though, I did knock 1 or 2 off my Geo Prizm in it’s day.
baltimoron: I haven’t seen any that are screw in. My long departed Chevy Beretta covers were held by the lugnuts(Is this common with Chevy & Geo?). Though I noticed some mechanics were trying to pry the cover off before removing the lugnuts. (Or even put the cover on after the lugnuts were already tightened. Sigh.
man, you need to control your own strength.
how are things, buddy?
I saw a hubcap off of the Montrose Rd exit on 270. I should have picked it up for you:)
i think it’s time for you to pimp your ride with some rims
